Five Summits, Hidden Paths & Unforgettable Sunrises in Morocco

The High Atlas Mountains are much more than Morocco's highest peak...
High Atlas Mountains Trek: A Three-Day Expedition Through Morocco's Highest Peaks
The High Atlas Mountains Trek is one of the most rewarding hiking experiences in Morocco, offering far more than the classic ascent of Jebel Toubkal. While many trekkers focus solely on reaching the highest peak in North Africa, the surrounding massif is home to hidden trails, remote ridges, and spectacular 4,000-metre summits that remain largely unexplored.
From 4th to 6th July 2026, I had the pleasure of guiding Marco on a challenging three-day expedition through the heart of the Toubkal Massif. Together, we climbed six remarkable summits, including Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m), Toubkal West (4,023 m), Imouzar (4,010 m), Tibhirin (3,900 m), Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083 m), and Timzguida (4,089 m).
Rather than following only the busy main trail, we explored the rugged Ikhibi South route, experienced peaceful mountain landscapes away from the crowds, and witnessed an unforgettable sunrise from the summit of Ouanoukrim. This adventure perfectly showcases why a High Atlas Mountains Trek is about much more than reaching one summit—it's about discovering the hidden beauty of Morocco's highest mountains.
Whether you're planning your first trek in the High Atlas or looking for a more demanding multi-summit adventure, this itinerary offers an unforgettable journey through one of North Africa's most spectacular mountain ranges.
