Toubkal Summit, Ifni Lake & Remote Berber Valleys Join us on a 5-day trail running journey in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, designed for runners who seek a perfect balance of endurance, culture, and adventure. This unique route combines hidden Berber valleys, technical mountain passes, the turquoise waters of Ifni Lake, and the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m) – the highest peak in North Africa. Itinerary Day 1 – Marrakech to Imlil (1,740m) & Evening Run Pick up from your hotel/airport in Marrakech and transfer to Imlil village, the trailhead of the High Atlas. Evening warm-up run through walnut groves and surrounding Berber hamlets (~8km). Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse in Imlil. Meals included: Dinner Overnight: Guesthouse in Imlil Day 2 – Imlil to Tachedirt Village (2,300m) Morning start with a gradual climb up to Tizi n’Tamatert Pass (2,279m). Trail descends into the scenic Tachedirt Valley, one of the highest villages in Morocco. Overnight in a traditional Berber family guesthouse. Distance: ~15km | Elevation gain: +700m / -300m | Time: 4–5 hrs Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Overnight: Guesthouse in Tachedirt Day 3 – Tachedirt to Amsouzart via High Mountain Passes Challenging day crossing two high passes: Tizi n’Likemt (3,555m) – stunning panoramic views. Tizi n’Ourai – descent towards Amsouzart village. Long but rewarding day, 6–7 hours on trails. Overnight in a guesthouse in Amsouzart. Distance: ~25km | Elevation gain: +1,250m / -1,450m | Time: 6–7 hrs Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Overnight: Guesthouse in Amsouzart Day 4 – Amsouzart to Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) via Ifni Lake & Tizi n’Ouanoums (3,700m) Start with a steady climb to the turquoise Ifni Lake. Continue the technical ascent through Tizi n’Ouanoums Pass (3,700m). Long descent to the Toubkal Refuge at 3,207m. Overnight at the refuge before the summit push. Distance: ~22km | Elevation gain: +1,500m / -600m | Time: 6–7 hrs Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Overnight: Toubkal Refuge Day 5 – Summit Mount Toubkal (4,167m) & Return to Marrakech Early morning start for the climb to the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m), the highest peak in North Africa. Enjoy sunrise views stretching across the Atlas range and Sahara Desert. Descend back to the refuge, then continue the long descent to Imlil. Transfer back to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
